My blog post will be sporadic.
SAR-CoV2 – COVID 19 – Coronavirus
I hope that everyone is doing their best to stay safe. I will not post a lot about this but it’s important take this seriously. Dr. Fauci, said that typically actually results fall somewhere in the middle, but some models estimate up to 1 million deaths related to this outbreak . He estimates 200k (still a scary number) We have to do our best to keep the numbers down. So far, our mortality rate has been low (compared to some countries) but if 100 million (about 30 percent of the US population) people get it we are in trouble.
Flattening the curve buys time for supplies such as PPE and medical equipment. It buys time for hospitals, local, state, and federal health systems to create plans on how to handle influx of patients , it could buy time for treatment (12-18 months) . Think about the long haul, focus on your physical and mental health, while also maintaining social distancing. Check on your friends and love ones. Be safe, stay informed but not overall informed! My goal is not to scare people but help message the seriousness of what’s happening. We will have to work together and support one another. Here is interview from Dr. Fauci
Exercise and Communication less TV
It has been very nice to catch up with people all over the country via fb message and text . Let’s take time to work on our health via exercise for 30 minutes a day. It is also a good time to catch up with friends. If you haven’t talked to someone in awhile ? Send them a message, Netflix and Hulu will still be there 🙂 Stay safe everyone.
Early Spring Cleaning
Using today to do early spring cleaning and organization. My goal is to be more organized heading into next week. So much uncertainly but we have to control what we can. If we are going to be inside for a prolong period of time we should try to declutter and reinvent our living spaces to make being in them more comfortable.
Learning SaS Status Update
One of the residual benefits from being a Western Governors University alum is free access to LinkedIn Learning. It has been a year since I finish my MSN in Informatics so I decided that it was time to learn something new that would be beneficial in my field. LinkedIn Learning has a 17-part SAS Prep course. Here is how the course is marketed ”Want to get ahead in a crowded job market? Get certified with SAS. This course is part of a series by the SAS Institute, designed to prepare you for the SAS 9.4 certification exam.” I am currently on Part 13. Once I finish, I will replay some of the courses and do more in depth practice. My good is to have a good understand of this coding language and then determine if I would like to learn any additional coding languages.
Nice Checkmate after missing forks
Liberty Bell Open
Last month I played in the Liberty Bell Open. I won 4 games and lost 3 games. 7 games in 2 days was intense. The next tournament that I play I will make sure to have more preparation. Overall I am 7-3-2 in the 2 tournaments I have played in the past year. I will post some of the games when I have time.
Only the 9th day of 2020 !
Happy 9th day of 2020. So far so good for me. I’m been focused on learning new skills and getting organized for the year to come. I hope that the year is treating everyone well.
Embed Chess Game Issues
I am still working on how to embed my chess games since I switch the website builder that I am using. For now I will post a GIF. During this most reason game I made several mistakes but was able to turn it around. I am playing as black in this game.
I was playing as white and was up a full rook but blunder an exchange. The game was a draw but he blundered mate in 2. Glad to win after a losing streak.
